On Monday the nineteenth of April Pedro Sebastão Almeida took his last breath at home in Rhode Island, where he lived with his surviving wife.
Pedro S. Almeida was born on October 26th, 1952 in Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde. Pedro lived and was raised by his late mother Maria Cristina Oliveira Almeida and late Grandmother Josefa Ramos in Fãja, Sao Nicolau.
In his teenage years he lived in Sao Vicente with his Aunt Teresa Jesus Oliveira. At age eighteen Pedro, after being sent for by his father Sabastão Almeida, emigrated to Belgium. While in Europe, he became a seaman, traveling all over the world working on cargo ships.
In 1980 Pedro settled in Rome, Italy. During his time in Italy he was blessed with three children, Emanuel, Valerio and Ludovica.
In 1988 Pedro married Maria Dos Santos Lopes in Rome, Italy. In 1991 Pedro then emigrated to the USA to live with his wife and they settled permanently in Providence, Rhode Island. Shortly after his arrival to the USA he was blessed with another child, Allessandra in 1992.
Pedro was a hard-working man who supported his family working at Angelica, APC and most recently, Wheeler School in maintenance.
Pedro enjoyed spending time with his wife, family and friends on the weekends where he would spend his time either listening to music, having a cold drink, playing cards, driving up to Boston where he spent time with his parents and siblings and most importantly watching his favorite soccer team Benfica play live on television.
Pedro was a very family-oriented man. He adored his grandchildren, Shaun, Maceo, Rhowan, Penelope, Nolan and Aubrin.
Those who knew Pedro knew him by his tranquil presence, soft smile and sense of humor.
Pedro is survived by his wife, Maria Lopes Almeida, his children, Emanuel Almeida, Valerio Almeida, Ludovica Almeida and Allessandra Soares, his grandchildren, Shaun Almeida, Maceo Almeida, Rhowan Soares, Penelope Luc, Nolan Almeida and Aubrin Soares. He is also survived by his father Sabastão Almeida and siblings, Josefa da Cruz
Antonia Almeida, Armando Almeida, Orlando Almeida, Rufina Almeida, Matilde Soares, Manuel Oliveira, Sebastiana Almeida, Natalina Almeida, Manuel Miranda, Gabriela Almeida, Antonia Silva, Supien Almeida, Nelass Almeida, Miguel Almeida.
Calling hours will be April 28th 4-7pm and April 29th 8:30am-10am at Keefe Funeral Home on 5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln RI. He will be laid to rest April 29th beginning with a Mass at 10am at Holy Name of Jesus Church on 99 Camp St Providence, RI followed by a burial at 11am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on 550 Wampanoag Trail, Riverside
